The Home Education Weekly Link Up

I am, as my boys would say, chuffed by the number of people who linked up their posts last week. I've had lovely, positive comments about the quality and content of the blogs from a significant number of parents who don't currently home-educate - the posts are having a positive impact on people which is wonderful.

I can honestly say that this week picking out a couple of posts to talk about has proved really hard because each and every one was so valuable. Every post shared with us all an insight in to that families particular home-schooling style, how their children learn, in some cases why they chose to home-ed, the resources they use and the ups snd downs of day-to-day family life.

It was interesting to read a post by 'We Shall Obtain Delivering Grace' about the financial cost of home-education. I haven't actually tallied up the money we have spent so far but I think it is less than when we paid for uniforms, school lunches, weekly donations, additional resource requests and school trips. Katie from the 'Galivanters' has another great post which deals with this theme - it's well worth a read.

Ross Mountney also linked up with a post which offers oodles of advice and support to parents considering this path or those just starting out. It's a beautifully written article as are all of her books and posts.

'Our Field Journal' shared a post about their exciting home-education group meet-up. It is evidence for the nay-sayers once again which proves that home-schooled kids do socialise.

This week I am also able to offer a giveaway thanks to the lovely people at Usborne children's publishing. They have provided me with a lovely hard-backed copy of 'See Inside the History of a Britain' by a Rob Lloyd Jones and Barry Abbott.

It has stunning illustrations and over 60 flaps to lift and allows children to explore plague-ridden London, the British Empire, a Victorian factory and other key events in Britain’s incredible history.
The scenes include “The Middle Ages”, “Tudor Times” and “Britain at War”.
A “Famous People” section at the back of the book features Britons of note such as Oliver Cromwell, Emmeline Pankhurst and The Beatles. My boys love the Usborne 'see inside' series and I'm excited to be able to offer a copy to one lucky person this week.

If you want to be in the random draw for the book then please link-up or comment below.

Here are the guidelines for the linky.

The link-up is for any home-education based post. It could just be a photograph from the week, your favourite post, a note about a particular success or if you are the creative type a home-ed poem - now there's a challenge.

If you don't blog but want to get involved then simply post a comment at the bottom of this post so that we can 'meet' you. Nobody wants to click on a link and zoom off to find themselves on an advertising post so please don't link-up with ads. The only other rule is just the good manners one - keep it clean and polite please.

I am really, really looking forward to reading more fabulous posts this week and meeting other home-educators. Please help spread the word about the linky in in doing so the positive message about home-education.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and link-up. I will read, share and comment on all the posts and it would be ever so nice if you could comment on at least three other posts on the list. And remember to spread the blogroll love by adding a few of the blogs listed here to your own site.

Have a great sunshine filled week!
